Dr. Ahmed Jan received his Dental Medicine and Surgery degree from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1999. He completed a one year internship after which he practiced general dentistry for four years.
Dr. Jan completed a five year Oral and Maxillofacial surgical residency training at the University of Toronto and its affiliated hospitals.
He graduated with a Master of Science degree in 2009, during which, he received numerous awards of distinction. He was the 2005 Scientific Award Winner in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons meeting in Boston. He was also the first author to the paper entitled “Hyperbaric oxygen results in an increase in calvarial critical sized defects” found in Oral Surg Oral Med Oral Pathol Oral Radiol Endod. This paper won the 2006 Larry J. Peterson Prize. He received his MD-PhD degree in Tissue Engineering and Medical Biomaterials, Regea Institute for Regenerative Medicine, University of Tampere, Finland in 2012.
Dr. Jan is a fellow of Royal College of Dentists in Canada and Registered as a Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Province of Ontario. He is an active member in the Ontario Dental Association. He اheld the position of the chairman of the oral and maxillofacial department in the period 2013-2018. Dr. Jan works as a consultant and an Associate Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. He worked as an Assistant Professor and the course director of the third year undergraduate Oral Surgery program, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto.
Dr. Jan has a special interest in the treatment of oral and maxillofacial pathologic conditions, reconstructive surgical procedures, including implant surgery and Orthognathic surgery.

1- The investigation of the effect of hyperbaric oxygen on the healing of critical sized defects in that are grafted with autogenous bone and novel bone substitutes.
2- The investigation of the effect of hyperbaric oxygen on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in critical sized defects
3- The investigation of the effect of hyperbaric oxygen on bone mineral density of the non-vascularized autogenous bone graft.
